Master Bathroom Continued

I finally finished painting the bathroom.

I love the new color.  It may be bit dark, but I find it very calming.

Once it was dry I started hanging the accessories.  The curtains, mirrors and pictures I had been gathering for months.

And baskets and shelves.  There isn't a linen closet or a medicine cabinet, but now with this added storage I think I can make the space work.

I have this problem where I have to much stuff!

So happy it is done.

Flash Back Friday: Orange Flower

I have a pillow with this flower on it, and I took a picture just pulling out the orange, and making all the other colors grey scale.  I thought it would make a great painting to add a pop of color around the house.

I layered the color, and increased the intensity as I added layers.

Here it is finished.

Master Bath Redo

I have been wanting to paint the master bathroom for a while.  I bought some curtains, several months ago, to hang in front of the walk-in closet and in front of the bathtub.  I knew that I wanted to pull the blue color from the curtains for my paint color.  For the last several weeks I have been getting paint samples and testing colors.  I finally found the perfect one just in time for the weekend.  I began by taking everything out of the bathroom.  I also decided I wanted to make my life even more difficult and do a little demo first.

I repaired the wall with spackle, waited for it to dry and sanded the area.  Then I taped off the counters and finally started painting.

It is always so exciting to just see the color start to go up on the wall.

Flash Back Friday: Brass Tables

I found these brass tables that look a bit like bamboo.  I thought with a little sanding primer and paint  they would make great side tables.  I believe almost anything can be fixed with a bit of paint.

Done!  They work perfect for the space.

Carpet

There is now new carpet in the guest room.  There are no signs that chickens have ever lived in this room!  Now it's time to start putting it back together, and to decided if I want to make any changes.

It's Friday

I am so happy it's Friday!  And I am also happy to have taken off work today.  I'm hoping to get some things done around the house.  First priority finish cleaning the chicken room (the room where they lived in the house before the coop was finished).  I did not take before pictures because it was DISGUSTING!!!  And I want to block that from memory.  Normally you would move your chickens outside several weeks before we did, and they wouldn't be big enough to get out of the box and create the mess that they did.  Unfortunately, we were not ready, and building the coop took a lot more time than anticipated.  So just imagine, some bird poop on the windshield of your car but in your guest room and times a million.  Yeah, gross.

A few weeks ago I started cleaning the room out.  Removing the boxes, wood chips and any random stuff in that room, cleaning it as I removed it.  I removed curtains and anything fabric and washed them.  The next weekend I removed the bed and bookshelf from the room.  Again wiping everything down and thoroughly cleaning all bedding.  Then yesterday I ripped out the carpet.  Not fun, but it's done.  And this is what the room looks like now.

Empty.
I am still going to wash down the walls today, and try to find a carpet remnant that I can put in there for the time being.  The carpet upstairs all needs to be replaced anyway, but the budget won't allow for that just yet.

Other than that I've been trying to find a little time to be crafty, and hopefully finish some projects, like the lyrics I've been painting on canvas.

I swear this has taken me forever!  It's not done just yet.  Still needs something, but I'm happy to see the progress.

I am also thinking about every once in a while having Flashback Friday, where I would post about a diy project that I did pre-blog.  As for a flashback for today...   I want to remember the chickens when they were cute baby chick and forget the horrible mess they made in my house.

Happy Friday!

Green Thumb

I have gone absolutely crazy!  I keep planting more and more things.  I have planted several more peonies, hydrangeas, and roses.  We got a few more raspberry plants, and some citrus trees.  I have bought marigolds and ordered some lemongrass.  And I planted a few more hostas and a calla lily.

Other progress in the garden...

A bunch of Kale

Tomatoes!

Squash

first radishes

blackberries and raspberries!

Busy Summer

Hope everyone had a great 4th!

I feel like I have been very busy, and yet don't have much to post!  I have been trying to get this house back in order after finally moving the chickens outside.  I even started cleaning the room that the chickens lived in.

Me in my "HazMat" suit.

It is gross, but someone has to do it!

Also last weekend was my husband's 30th birthday so I was busy planning for that.  Every day of June he got a little present, maybe a candy bar, or a tooth brush. 30 days in June, 30 gifts for his 30th birthday.  Then on Saturday, the 29th (his actual birthday) we met some friends and went on bourbon distillery tour, went to a new restaurant, and then to a brewery.  It was a lot of fun, and so great to catch up with some friends we haven't seen for a while.  So yeah.  That's what I've been up to.
