I really don't have anything to write about the process of building a retaining wall. My husband has done basically all of the research and hard labor. We are building this to set the chicken coop on, which we still have to build. But this is what has been keeping us busy lately, and will continue to for a while.
Talley Belle's 8th birthday was April 25th (actually her got me day). So the girls got cake and ice cream.
The cupcake was real people food, so they only got a small one each. The ice cream was banana and peanut butter that I blended together and froze. We try to not give the girls much people food, but their birthdays are always an exception.
I need to start planning now, my baby Roxie Ann will be 5 in June, (don't you love how I talk about my dogs like they are my kids!) and she didn't really have a birthday last year because she had neck surgery.
One of my co-workers recently had a birthday. We thought she might enjoy some redneck wine glasses and some mason jar to-go cups. The wine glasses I thought would be pretty easy. A little glue and some candle sticks, done!
They actually turned out pretty cute. But then to make the mason jar cups. You have to put a hole through the lid so you can put a straw in it. Easy enough, right? I just used a drill bit to make the hole and then covered the edges of the hole with a rubber grommet making sure to cover any sharp edges. It was actually pretty easy. If I were to do it again I probably would buy some sort of grommet punch, but I think things turned out great. There were four of us planning everything so each of us decided to decorate a cup on their own. For mine I decided to sew a quilted koozie. I also put some fabric yo-yos on top for extra decoration.
Most of the week we stayed in Myrtle Beach, but on Wednesday we went to Charleston. We took a tour of the city and a tour of a house, walked a lot, and of course ate a lot!
We made a little restaurant tour for ourselves. We went to Fig, delicious ricotta gnocchi, High Cotton, and The Ordinary all on Wednesday night.
Them Thursday for lunch we went to Husk. We got to eat out side on the balcony.
Then we headed back to Myrtle Beach.
Kyle claims that the best meal he had was at Peaches. He got The Bruiser.
On our last night of vacation we drove to Calabash to eat at Coleman's. My family use to travel to Sunset Beach every summer, and eat at Coleman's almost every night.
The next day we headed back home. On the way home we stopped in Ashville again for a break from driving and got some gourmet chips. Then we decided to go to the Ashville Brewing where of course Kyle got the pizza buffet. Then we continued our trip home.
